Ethnic Burmese women harvest tea leaves in North East Bangladesh. Most ethnic minority tea workers are the descendants of emigrants who moved to the plantations with the promise of work during colonial rule. Today, workers are still payed by the amount they harvest, usually just enough to pay for on-plantation housing and food.
